It has taken me a bit longer than planned to get the rest of this sneak peek up but here it is. Big brother Owen is just smitten with his new baby sister. I just love how he snuggles her and closes his eyes, enjoying every little minute. How lucky Ceara is to have an adoring big brother to protect her.

I know there are many people waiting to catch a glimpse of this sweet baby girl so I just had to edit one of my favourite photos from today’s shoot. Mom Kate is a friend and former co-worker who moved away recently to be near her RCMP hubby down in the Lower Mainland. Sad for all of us but so nice for her and her little boy, and now this sweet baby girl. We chatted many months ago about doing newborn photos of this baby once it arrived and what a great excuse to take a super speedy trip to the coast to visit/shop! Delaney, my eldest daughter and I, ventured out yesterday morning after hearing on Thursday that Ceara had finally made her appearance. We arrived at the coast in the midst of heavy, and I mean 55mm in a day heavy rain!!! Thankfully we spent a few hours indoors shopping. This morning was spent with this super cute 6 day old sweetie, and her adoring big brother (pics to come). I love, love, love this photo. I found this green throw at IKEA and am now wishing I had scooped the orange one too. She was just angelic, sleeping for a majority of the session. Even awake she was good. Kate and Jeremy your children are adorable. Thank you for giving me a reason for a quick trip. Here is a mini sneak of our session today. Keep watching in the next day or two for a few more. Enjoy!!!

I am so very happy to have finally had the chance to get these photos done for this wonderful family who just happens to be some of our dearest friends. I have known Jolanda for about 6 1/2 yrs since our youngest girls were born. She is truly a genuine friend and has been one of my greatest encouragers and supporters as I have entered this world of photography. She knows exactly how to make my day. We get along great as couples too and our kids always have a great time when we are all together. Tessa is one of Brooklyn’s best buddies, one of the friends she loves to play with. We have been working on finding a time for photos since last year but with John working out of town it has been impossible. In chatting just this past week we found that today would actually be a day that worked for everyone and I was so very excited to be chaufferred to a location that they had chosen. This family loves the outdoors. They have quads and love to hunt and fish. It was only fitting that we shoot their family photos in a location out in the wilderness. If only I had an old 4X4, I would use this place again and again. With the threat of a storm overhead, and a few showers here and there we finally got this shoot done! Thank you John and Jolanda for being patient with me. I really enjoyed spending the afternoon capturing these images for you. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek. There are so many great images yet to go through.

Most photographers will say that toddlers are the most challenging to photograph. They are unpredictable and are constantly moving. I personally find teens the most challenging, especially boys as the whole world of boys is pretty foreign to me! To capture a natural smile in a teen boy takes some work. Trying to make them comfortable and not too self conscious is a feat all in itself. Last night I met up with a great family with boys aged 6-16, and two teen girls. I headed to the local graffiti wall, a popular place for photos of kids this age. I love that every time I come here I find something new, new colours, new designs compliments of our local taggers. I am very happy with the results. Great light, great colours, and in my opinion a glimpse into the personality of each kid. Thanks so much Lisa for the referral and to Kim and Steve for inviting me to capture these photos of your awesome family. Your “extra” children are very lucky to have you in their lives! Enjoy!

I was contacted this past week by this sweet baby’s mom to do some photos and was happy to be able to squeeze them in before I left on holidays. With a birth weight of over nine pounds and already 4 weeks old I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect in the way of getting the sleepy shots. Tane did not disappoint me. At 11 pounds six ounces at last weigh in he is the biggest “newborn/baby” I have photographed. Awake on arrival he did manage to doze off again with the warmth of my heater toasting him. I am very pleased at the results and was able to move and pose him with only a little protest each time. Thanks Kathi for doing the bum patting and helping keep him in a peaceful slumber. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek. Thanks also to Kate, of Knits and Knots by Kate http://www.facebook.com/knitsknotskate?ref=ts for getting my elf hat made so quickly.
