I don’t think I have ever had a wee client actually slept the whole session! Mia was a rockstar at her newborn session today. I have known Kristie and Jonny since their first newborn session and have been privileged to be asked to photograph all of their sweet babies. Mia definitely was the easiest by far. Kristie didn’t have the easiest pregnancy so really deserves this easy going baby. Being transferred to Kelowna at 34 weeks found her on two weeks of bedrest. Now, if you have been to the new perinatal unit at KGH you will know, it is pretty sweet! Beautiful, bright, big room and room service! It still is not quite the same as home but Kristie made the best of it, relaxing, cooking her baby, and learning to crochet! We even got to have a few chats on my work days. On January 27th at 36 weeks, little Mia made her debut, weighing in at 6lbs 8oz. Having two older siblings though that weighed around 9 lbs, mom and dad thought she was a wee little thing. I was actually working on her birthday so was able to meet her all fresh and new. Babies born early often get to stay a bit extra with us in the NICU. Mia won over all her nurses and after a 12 day stay she was welcomed home by big sister Zoë and big brother Everett. I am sure they were more excited to have their mama home though. All NICU babies are gifted a quilt which local quilters donate. Mia’s was so beautiful I had to incorporate it in her session. Thank you Kristie and Jonny for trusting me with all of your newborn memories! You have a beautiful little family!
